PRIVA-LITE XL is an active glass which, under the effect of an electric current, switches from translucent to transparent with no alteration of light transmission. Two layers of glass [SGG PLANILUX or SGG DIAMANT] encapsulate a liquid crystal film inserted between two EVA layers. Under a 65 volts alternative current [50 Hz], the liquid crystals orient themselves in the same direction. The film – at first translucent – becomes instantaneously transparent.

PRIVA-LITE can be used for Interior and Exterior applications especially for partitions, doors, security glazing, projection screens, shop fronts and glass floors.

Technological Principle

In the „off“-position PRIVA-LITE is translucent and prevents the view through the pane. In the „on“-position it becomes transparent, with the liquid crystals in the film all oriented in the same direction. All it takes a flick of a switch to instantly trigger the change of state, this operation is reversible and can be repeated an indefinite number of times.

In the translucent „off“-position PRIVA-LITE serves as an excellent projection screen.
