Aesthetic and Safety

Depending on the type of door and composition of glass, the visual effects can differ when viewed from inside to outside and vice versa.

SECURIT FT – Safety glass to EN 12150 – is 4 to 5 times stronger than normal glass and has significantly higher resistance to soft and hard-body impacts. When mechanically overloaded, the glass falls into small, blunt-edged particles.

STADIP PLANIDUR – Laminated safety glass to EN ISO 12543 – is splinter-binding so that should mechanical failure occur, the individual pieces of glass remain attached to each other. Over a period of at least 48 hours it is still possible to open and close the door normally. The door can still be locked, continuing to protect from unwanted entry.

Notes to determine order sizes:
Door heights may vary from standard heights depending on the floor finish. It is not always possible to establish the finished floor level when installing the casement!

Glass doors cannot be changed in dimension after they have been made!

Packing

Each door and its accessories are packed in a protective cardboard shell which can be transported standing or flat.

2. Application technical notes

Soft-body (thrown ball) impact

SECURIT and STADIP have been tested for soft-body (thrown ball) impact to DIN 18032 Part 3 as suitable for sports halls.

Acoustic insulation

Minimum requirements to Austrian Standard ÖNORM B 8115-2:

Interior doors general – Rw > 28 dB
Doors in staircases, Hotels, Hospitals or rooms with higher requirements – Rw ≥ 33 dB

eckelt.DOORS fulfill these requirements depending on the door type – see technical characteristics. Special compositions using STADIP SILENCE can achieve acoustic insulation of up to Rw 37 dB.

To achieve Standard-compliant performance it is necessary to provide suitable casement and threshold seals.

Even an acoustic insulation improvement of 3 dB halves the human perception of noise.

Noise frequency values
10 – 20 dB whispering
30 – 50 dB quiet residential street, radio at room loudness
60 – 80 dB loud street, vacuum-cleaner, barking
90 – 95 dB circular saw, screeching brakes
120 dB pain threshold
Climate effects

eckelt.DOORS are in contrast to wood doors not sensitive to warping as a result of temperature or humidity.

3. Edge treatment

All eckelt.DOORS have their edges polished as standard.

4. Marking

eckelt.DOORS are marked as safety glass. The mark is located at the same height as the upper hinge and is not visible when the door is closed.
