Keeps you safely out of the rain

ROOFLITE Standard composition is of STADIP laminated safety glass from 2 x heat-strengthened float glass in accordance with EN 1863.

1. System description

Structural dimensioning

A system analysis has been determined for the standard sizes, which complies with Austrian building regulations and are likely to comply with most national regulations where similar conditions apply. The following loads are used as basis for design:

ROOFLITE with clear glass: max. allowable load is 1,4 kN/m²
ROOFLITE with SERALIT LITEX: max. allowable load is 1,0 kN/m²

Site requirements

Where installation is into reinforced concrete or through hollow block walls: maximum snow and surface loads 2,5 kN

Where installation is onto hollow block walls using Fischer FIP anchor: maximum snow and surface loads 1,25 kN

Individual sizes which exceed the maximum standard sizes must be structurally checked.

For Austria:

TÜV-Test dated 27.1.1998
Report number AT 1-S-98/1

2. Fittings

Fittings of stainless steel – Grade 1.4305 – will remain rust-free when regularly cleaned and maintained, and subject to normal environmental conditions. In areas and conditions with excessive moisture (swimming baths, ocean-side, etc) or heavily polluted areas (such as industrial areas with increased air pollution etc.) it is possible that slight rusting will occur.

3. Standard roof pitch

10° fall, we recommend this as a minimum to avoid soiling - also for ROOFLITE BC.

4. Installation

Installation in accordance with installation guidelines. It is intended that the end-user should be able to install a standard canopy, but larger sizes may require additional assistance in lifting the glass. Installation instructions are included in the original package for standard canopies.

5. Application technical notes

Sealant compatibility

Should joints between the glass and wall be sealed, sealants which are compatible with laminated glass PvB interlayers must be used e.g. DC 791. With ROOFLITE BC, the included silicone gasket cannot be used. Suitable selants can be found in this list [>].

Cleaning instructions

This is dependent on location and level of soiling, but we recommend cleaning the glass surface with clean water and household glass cleaner without any abrasive ingredients. The stainless steel components can have any stubborn marks removed with household chrome cleaning agent.

CAUTION: The glass must not be walked on when cleaning.

Normal cleaning of the fittings should suffice, but should they not be cleaned for a longer period, we recommend a ground-cleaning of the steel parts using an active cleaner such as Henkel „Sidolin“. Regular cleaning (every 3 to 6 months) should be carried out after this.
