A House full of energy
ENERGYbase demonstrates a quantum leap in the energy development for optimised office buildings. The innovative architecture, modern building technology and highest occupancy comfort is most convincing. A landmark project for the unification of ecology and economy in construction of modern commercial real-estate.
Active – Passive – ENERGYbase
One innovative aspect of the ENERGYbase is the exclusive use of renewable energy. The passive house standard reduces the energy consumption by about 80 % in comparison to conventional buildings. A 400 m² Photovoltaic installation on the stepped South elevation covers a significant part of the electrical power demand. Over an area of about 7,500 m², an ingenious interaction between Photovoltaic, element activation and use of plants provides natural humidification and conditioning of the interior air.
The special "folding" of the South elevation allows a significant proportion of glazing to be used. Only CLIMATOP energy-saving glass has been used with its excellent thermal insulation of Ug 0,6 W/m².K. The complete glazed area of 1,800 m² provides a sustainable contribution to climate change and reduction of CO2-Emissions whilst simultaneously harvesting optimum solar energy.
The passive office ENERGYbase has costs of about 2.5 to 3 Euros per year and m² for heating, cooling, lighting, ventilation and warm water production. That is about one fifth of normal energy costs.
Wellness at work
The project offers only the best of comfort for occupants. Work spaces with a wellness factor. Plant buffers ensure a comfortable, uniform room climate and intelligent controlled light directioning controls provide all offices with complete daylight.
Ecological building materials create optimum workplace conditions and are a guarantee for employee commitment and productivity.
The ENERGYbase received the ?Quality-tested Passive house? certificate in 2009 which is the official proof for extraordinary quality, which the building fulfils with regards to energy efficiency and comfort climate. Furthermore, the building received the coveted Austrian Green Building Award. In 2008 it also received the European Environmental Press Award as well as the Austrian Solar prize and was nominated for the state prize and ENERGY Globe Vienna.
