FINS + BEAMS
The Generali Building on Stephansplatz in Vienna was designed by architect Hans Hollein with an unusual glass cube facing out onto Goldschmiedgasse. This glass cube houses one of five exclusive Penthouse apartments with a view onto the Stephansdom. To improve comfort through variable solar control and shading, the apartments were outfitted with DLS ECKLITE, whereby the insulated units of the glass cube have large integrated electronically driven blinds up to 2180 x 3670 mm in size. A particular challenge was the transparent glass frontage, which has a premiere in technology – namely 7.2 m high vertical glass fins with invisible connection of the facade and built without metal base profiles.
