K 47, Mixed-use building, Vienna

The corner of Kai and Heinrichsgasse in Vienna is now occupied by this seven storey opaque / transparent body of glass with its Skybox sitting proud on top.

The storey-height frameless solar-control louvers on the facade are of satin-finished, non-reflecting white glass and can be turned through 180° to control the ingress of sunlight. The louvers give the envelope changing appearance in sections, from coffered to flat, and give an almost plastic effect to the surfaces.

The glass louvers supplied by ECKELT allow an individual design to the external appearance of the facade whilst simultaneously providing differing light conditions in the interior.
