Mur Island, Graz

For the Cultural Capital of 2003 – Graz – the New York artist Vito Acconci designed a new landmark: The Mur Island. It is a steel skeleton whose spaces are clad using glass, stainless steel or lattice. A ramp leads you onto the design island for which ECKELT supplied the glass. On the Island there is an Amphitheatre which has space for 300 visitors. There is also a play area and a Café. Over the ramp to the other side it is possible to leave the island, so that the floating island also acts as a bridge across the Mur.
