St. Franziskus Church, Wels

„Celebrate under an open sky“: The new build of the St. Franziskus Church in Wels is characterized through light and volume. A 4 m wide and 13 m long glass slot in the West Wall facilitates a dialogue between inside and outside. The whole building was developed by the architects Lugner Maul to passive energy house criteria. The canopy has 140 square meters of 12 mm thick heat-strengthened laminated safety glass with stepped edges. The shiny black exterior glass skin of EMALIT-H with integrated photovoltaic elements envelopes the cubus of the Church, simultaneously protecting from any summer heat.
