Quality as an experience

The tried and tested concept of a successful combination between a city shopping center and user market having been achieved in Linz and Steyr led to the transfer of the concept to the Welas Parks in Wels Pernau. Perfect infrastructure and the enormous catchment area surrounding the city of Wels led to the realisation of this architectural feature in Wels.

The North-South oriented building has an L-shaped form which invites customers through the courtyard via expansive parking lots. An expansive wood-clad facade on one side and a glistening glass facade on the other completes the building envelope. The main entrance with its non-food zone sits between a 4,000 m² supermarket and a 470 seat self-service restaurant.

Quiet zones, open traffic ways, comfortable climate and spaces flooded with natural daylight bring a unique atmosphere to the shopping experience. The concept brings architecture and quality of life together as one.

Glass facade

Expansive glazed areas on the south elevation enclose space and transport a feeling of openness and freedom. The spaceiis designed to act like a social magnet – attracting people from outside to inside. Glimpses of life through open spaces awaken the natural inquisitiveness of human eyes...people watching. The use of DLS ECKLITE SC brings the design concept to a functional realisation. The overall atmosphere changes according to prevailing sunlight and louvre positioning – something that the owner can control. The sectional separation of the controls allows suitable regulation of room temperature and creates a „living“ facade.

ECKLITE connects the restaurant with the adjacent garden court and creates an intimate and comfortable atmosphere without the need for separation.

410 m² of ECKLITE SC was installed as a complete glazed facade in combination with the VARIO system - bringing a flush surface without exterior profiles. For East and West oriented facades, the VARIO system was used incorporating SUNEX Neutral 52/29 solar control glass and matching spandrels of EMALIT-H in look-alike grey BF712WW .
