Open Day - 26.6.2009
About 1,400 visitors to ECKELT in Steyr
The completion of the expansion project for about 6 Million Euro was celebrated by the company together with employees and their families, neighbours, locals and interested parties from the region at a special Open Day. More than 1,400 guests visited the factory grounds in Resthofstraße and viewed a factory which belongs to the most modern of its kind.
Of surprising interest to the visitors were the methods of flat glass processing. The planned 7 factory tours had to be increased to 44 due to such extreme demand!
The international relevance of ECKELT GLAS and the global reference projects which have been and will be achieved from Steyr, were completely unknown to most of the visitors until now – recognition was also given to ECKELT being an important employer in the region.
With Wolfgang Lehner, the host of Radio Upper Austria’s morning show, the day was led by a real professional – the visitors were offered a multitude of highlights: From the wlcome concert by the brass band from neighbouring village Waldneukirchen through the exhibition of glass architecture to be touched (by) to the Segway-Challenge – there was something for everyone. A particular highlight was the performance by Austrofred, the Austrian tribute artist to Freddie Mercury who rocked the hall and brought everyone to simmering point.
The catering stands providing refreshments and sustenance were very popular..:
- 5,020 Soft drinks
- 2,250 Beers
- 990 Pairs of sausages
- 550 Portions of French fries and
- 476 Cups of Coffee…
were consumed.
As part of a social support event, everyone was invited to hammer a nail into the ECKELT Life tree, for which ECKELT contributed € 1 each to pro mente Upper Austria. All in all, a donation check to the value of € 2,000 for the Project “Druckwerkstatt” in Steyr was handed over by the company management.
